Located just a short stroll from Terminal 21 and BTS Asok, VIVIN has been delighting food lovers since its modest beginnings in 2013, starting with a single table and product at a farmers’ market. It has since blossomed into a vibrant restaurant offering a full café-bistro menu and a grocery stocked with over 500 artisanal Thai local, organic, and natural products.
Open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, VIVIN transforms from a bright, airy café during the day to a cosy European bistro with warm lighting in the evening. The ‘Shelf to Plate’ experience allows guests to savour locally sourced products, like the signature Jambon-Fromage sandwich made with Thai “Paris” ham and Le Doi Pao cheese from Chiang Mai. VIVIN’s dedication to sustainability and local sourcing is reflected in every dish, from the duck confit and Thai Charolais beef steaks to their legendary fluffy soufflé omelettes. Rather than using processed ketchup, VIVIN opts for house-made tomato chutney and even crafts its own natural cola.
For vegan and vegetarian diners, VIVIN offers plenty of delicious options, including the vibrant vegan and goat cheese salad and organic homemade soups. VIVIN also hosts popular monthly Thai cheese buffet events, where guests can indulge in an extensive range of artisanal cheeses. At VIVIN, it’s more than just dining—it’s a celebration of sustainable Thai products that supports local artisans and organic farmers.

The new location, VIVIN – Head Office & Kitchen at 80/16 Ekkamai 22, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok, reflects the brand’s evolution. While not a traditional restaurant, it offers what VIVIN proudly calls the city’s cutest and tiniest gourmet grocer experience. Visitors are invited to explore the packed grocery filled with artisanal products or relax on the cosy terrace and enjoy a curated menu of VIVIN’s best-sellers.
Though more compact, the menu still captures the essence of VIVIN’s artisanal philosophy, featuring delectable sandwiches, organic salads, soups, and the iconic fluffy soufflé omelettes. At the Ekkamai location, there is no formal table service. Instead, customers are served directly by friendly cooks, creating a unique, intimate chef’s table experience in a townhouse-like setting. This approach offers a welcoming, casual yet private atmosphere—a true reflection of the VIVIN nesting place.

The Founders Story & VIVIN history:
VIVIN’s journey began in 2013 as a pop-up vendor at the Bangkok Farmers’ Market, where co-founder Nicolas Vivin introduced his unique foie gras terrine, inspired by his grandmother’s recipe but with a twist—incorporating local ingredients like Phuket-based rum and strawberries from Chiang Mai. Originally from Roanne, France, Nicolas, together with his Australian-Thai wife and business partner, Samantha Proyrungtong, a food marketing expert, sought local alternatives to gourmet imports, believing them to be a more sustainable option for fine dining.
In the early days, the couple faced the challenge of persuading both local and international customers of the potential and benefits of Thai artisanal products. However, they persevered, expanding their range by collaborating with artisans from various regions across Thailand. Not only are VIVIN producers of artisanal and natural goods, but Nicolas was and remains deeply involved in the quality control and development of the grocery products, working alongside selected producers to create and refine new recipes and test products.
From its humble beginnings as a Farmers’ Market stall, VIVIN transitioned into supplying premium products to hotels and restaurants in 2015. Between 2016 and 2018, VIVIN expanded into mainstream retail with boutique corners in EmQuartier and Central Chidlom. However, they eventually decided to close these outlets to focus on a more boutique and curated brand experience. This decision led to the opening of their first brick-and-mortar store at Ekkamai Complex in November 2019, where the brand rebranded as “VIVIN Grocery” and continued to evolve until August 2024.
Today, VIVIN boasts over 500 product types and a ready-to-eat menu available for pick-up and delivery. Their “Grocerant” concept (restaurant-in-grocery), launched in September 2020, allows customers to enjoy all-day dining with meals freshly prepared to order, based on Nicolas’ family recipes and inspired by his youth spent in Roanne, Lyon, and Les Contamines-Montjoie. Though not strictly French, the menu reflects European and international flavors, crafted using Thai ingredients found in the grocery, a concept they coined as “Shelf to Plate.”
In August 2022, opened, “VIVIN Asok – Café Grocery Bistro,” at Sukhumvit Soi 19, offering a similar grocery selection but with a distinct café ambiance. In the evening, the café transforms into a bistro, complete with an ambient setting and refined bistro menu.
By September 2024, VIVIN moved it’s Ekamai Complex branch to Ekamai 22, “VIVIN – Head Office & Kitchen”, serving as the company’s headquarters, central kitchen, and warehouse. This location also features a mini grocery with a small terrace where customers can shop or enjoy a light bite.
The brand also announced, since September 2024, that VIVIN has rebranded from “VIVIN Grocery” to simply “VIVIN.” This change reflects the evolution beyond just a grocery store to a recognised brand for both dining and shopping. Offerings now encompass a diverse range of products, including dining experiences, artisanal goods, and more merchandise to come.
For over 11 years, Nicolas and Samantha have remained committed to raising the profile of Thai artisanal products, working closely with a passionate community of new and pioneering artisans since their early days at the Farmers’ Market. Their mission continues to champion local, natural, and organic products, building a sustainable future for Thai food culture.

VIVIN, proudly offer a variety of dishes that highlight both local Thai ingredients and classic European flavours and techniques, creating a unique fusion of flavours. Their signature offerings include the fluffy souffle (free-range eggs) omelettes range is not only a tasty hit but an Instagram one also, the omelette is flipped at the table by the chef. Diners can choose from the Classic Omelette, Three Artisan Cheeses, or Local Goat Cheese & Spring Onion Omelette, with optional sides like duck potatoes, or roasted seasonal vegetables.
For a light but generous portioned option, try the refreshing organic salads, such as the Smoked Tuna and Marlin Salad made with premium seafood sourced from Phuket or the classic French-inspired Thai Goat Cheese Salad. In this dish, local Thai Buchette goat cheese is drizzled with honey and served atop a generous portion of organic greens, finished with homemade vinaigrette.
Breakfast, Lunch and Brunch at VIVIN is always a treat, with our popular artisanal sandwiches available in both 25cm and 50cm sizes. For something heartier, our Thai-French fusion Khao Soi Duck Confit is a must-try. This dish features crispy, juicy duck confit cooked in its fat, paired with roasted organic vegetables and mash and a Thai-inspired khao soi sauce, perfectly blending local and French culinary traditions. The homemade sourdough blinis with a range of toppings, from steak haché to vegetarian options, also make for a scrumptious day-time meal.
For a casual weekday apero or weekend brunch, the Thai Cheese and homemade Cold Cuts Platters are perfectl, especially when paired with a selection of GI-certified Thai wines from GranMonte Vineyard and Winery.
For dinner, choose from the bronze-cut pasta varieties with homemade sauces such as 3 Cheese Pasta, Blue Cheese Pasta or Steak Hahce or organic vegetable Ratatouille, otherwise savour a beautifully cooked Thai Charolais beef steak—either hanger or flank—with a choice selection of sides and sauces. And don’t miss out on the specials, which include organic seasonal dishes of the week or month and the Grocerant Takeover menu, a collaboration with renowned chefs from around Thailand and beyond.
